Rilawa

Rilawa in Sri Lanka

Rilawa is endemic to Sri Lanka. They also known as Toque Macaque or Macaca Sinica and commonly found in Sri Lankan Jungles.

Tourists can easily spot Rilaw in many religious and historical places in Sri Lanka. Rilaw troops are notorious for destroying human belongings and crops. They are cleverer than normal monkeys and even use to come inside houses for searching for foods. Farmers used to use air rifles to chased away them

Rilawas are not a vegetarians. They even eat eggs of birds. Rilaw even attack humans and bite them. If you got bite by a Rilawa, you need to get vaccinated for rabies. One common advice is not to promote for feeding them.
